Autos of the Apocalypse

In the 1970’s, facing threats from imports, Detroit automakers began producing and marketing compact cars. Lots has been written about Detroit’s rush to the marketplace resulting in some disastrous cars – the epitome of which is the Ford Pinto that would sometimes burst into flames when rear-ended due to the placement of the gas tank. For more information on some of the challenges of these cars, click here.

While these cars were all initially beloved by many, they quickly fell out of favor, only to become beloved again and highly collectible. I hope you will enjoy this 1970’s themed collection of car art.
